Michael joined OMERS Infrastructure as Managing Director – Asset Management in 2019, with a mandate focused on asset management in utilities in the energy, and water sectors with a view bringing his operational and leadership experience in this space to assets in the OMERS portfolio.
Michael brings over 35 years of experience in senior leadership positions in the public and private sectors. He has led large complex organisations with operations in Ireland, the USA and across the world, and has significant experience in growing international businesses in the utilities, engineering and infrastructure sectors.
Most recently, Michael served as CEO of Ervia, a semi-state multi-utility company responsible for the delivery of Ireland’s national gas and water infrastructure and services. Prior to that, Michael was CEO of NTR plc, an entrepreneurial infrastructure investment company, and before that worked as Managing Director of ESB International, a leading engineering consultancy.
Michael is a Civil Engineering graduate from the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) and holds an honorary fellowship from Engineers Ireland. He attended the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard, holds an IT qualification from Trinity College Dublin and is a recipient of the Alumni Award in Business and Engineering from the National University of Ireland, Galway. Michael is a member of the board of the Irish Management Institute (IMI) and is the Chair of the IMI Council. He also serves as Non-Executive Director on the Board of Project Management Holdings (PM Group), the Irish headquartered international project delivery specialists.
